Herein are dog tales from the 18th C. and 19th C from France and England. The first story shows how moved Napoleon Bonaparte was, when inspecting the battlefield after the battle of Castiglione in Lombardy in August 1796, he came across a dog sitting patiently next to the body of a dead officer. Another is of the pet of a magistrate who was beheaded for no reason during France’s Reign of Terror (Sept. 1793 – July 1794), which after his master was executed refused to leave the grave of his master. Lastly we are told the story of the pet dog of Mary Queen of Scots ended her eighteen years of weary captivity upon a scaffold at Fotheringay. Upon her execution the dog let out a howl which seemed to originate from the spirit world................……. Download and read these stories to find out what happened to the three dogs mentioned. The place, town or city is relevant to the story. HINT - use Google maps. Baba Indaba is a fictitious Zulu storyteller who narrates children's stories from around the world. Baba Indaba translates as "Father of Stories". It is believed that folklore and tales are believed to have originated in India and made their way overland along the Silk and Spice routes and through the Middle East and Central Asia before arriving in Europe. Even so, this does not cover all folklore from all four corners of the world. Indeed folklore, legends and myths from Africa, Australia, Polynesia, and some from Asia too, can be altogether quite different and seem to have originated on the whole from separate reservoirs of lore, legend and culture.
