Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following on from the pre-war saloons MG designed the Y-Type, a comfortable four-seater, to run concurrently with the TC from 1947. A year later the tourer was announced and rather unsportingly likened to a (bath tubĂ·. However, they kept the MG family car going until the modern, Palmer-designed Z-Type was introduced in 1954. Again a good family car fitted with the new BMC B-series engine of 1489cc. The engine was upgraded in 1956 and with a few cosmetic changes now became the ZB. Production of the ZA/ZB Magnettes came to an end in 1958. This is a book of contemporary road tests, new model introductions, technical and specification data, long-term tests, buying second hand, rallying and touring.
