The metabolism of a person with hyperthyroidism is sped up from too much thyroid hormone in their system, so that everything in the body is running at overdrive. When this happens, the person will experience hyperthyroid symptoms. The vast majority of people with hyperthyroidism (95%) experience Graves' disease as the cause. This is an autoimmune disease caused by antibodies created by the immune system that attach to the thyroid gland and stimulate it to produce excessive amounts of hormone. Graves' disease and other causes of hyperthyroidism are addressed as well as detailed discussion on symptoms diagnosis and treatments. This book (approx. 8,579 words in length) is not intended to be an extensive manual but is intended to contain information most often sought by laypersons on the subject. CONTENTS: CHAPTER ONE: Hyperthyroidism and Its Causes CHAPTER TWO: Recognizing Graves' Disease CHAPTER THREE: Treatments for Grave's Disease CHAPTER FOUR: Hypothyroid & Hyperthyroid at the Same Time CHAPTER FIVE: My Own Experience with Hashitoxicosis CHAPTER SIX: Anxiety Symptoms in Thyroid Disorders CHAPTER SEVEN: Book Review for: "Living Well with Graves' Disease and Hyperthyroidism" CHAPTER EIGHT: Goiters Associated with Hyperthyroidism
