Book excerpt: This MA thesis aims to shed light on the revolutionary social phenomena represented by movements such as Occupy Wall Street, the Spanish indignados and the Arab Spring. It analyzes the Spanish indignados movement from a neoGramscian perspective, as a counter-hegemonic alternative which is at the same time influenced by some contemporary features of what Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman has called the "liquid" Modernity.
