Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from My Religion The addresses and sermons gathered in this volume were given by Dr. Emil G. Hirsch on various occasions in a long ministry. Some are included for reasons of bio graphic value, others because they give, in the form that a sermon can permit, something of his philosophy and his attitude to life and religion. Many of the sermons were written out by him for publication after having been de livered. In these, changes have been very few and prac tically limited to occasional correction of punctuation in the interest of clearness. The greater number of those printed in the volume were taken down stenographically and not revised by Dr. Hirsch. The editor felt that he had no right to take liberties with the text and only made such changes or omissions as he felt the speaker himself would have made if he had revised the sermon for publication. There is yet to add that the choice tried to present, in the limitations of the volume, sermons of the Holyday season, of Midrashic style and of the kind that Dr. Hirsch preached to his Congregation at the Sunday morning service. The series on My Religion remained incomplete, some of the series not having been taken down at the time of delivery. The editor has used sermons that Dr. Hirsch preached at various times in order to round out the series. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
